The Philosophy Department of the University of Western Ontario is pleased to announce the 11th annual PhilMiLCog graduate conference on the Philosophy of Mind, Language and Cognitive Science. Submissions by graduate students in the fields of philosophy of mind, philosophy of language, of linguistics, or of cognitive science are welcome. Submissions on the topics of philosophy of neuroscience, philosophy of psychology, embodiment and feminist issues in the philosophy of mind, language or cognitive science are particularly encouraged. Submissions by graduate students in fields other than philosophy are welcome, but all submissions must make a philosophical contribution.

Submission should be presentable in 25 minutes (3500 words) and should be accompanied by a short abstract (150 words).

Do not include identifying information in the abstract or in the body of the paper.

Please attach a separate cover sheet with the submitter’s name, paper title, mailing address,

e-mail address and institutional affiliation.

Deadline for submission: March 1st, 2013

Conference at Ohio State

The Ohio State University Undergraduate Philosophy Conference

May 11th and May 12th

Papers written by undergraduates on any philosophical topic are welcome. Entries should be roughly 10-20 pages in length. Please remember to include a cover letter containing your name, e-mail, phone number, University/College/Institution, paper title, and short abstract (roughly 100-200 words).

Undergraduate Conference in San Diego

The San Diego State University's Philosophy Department is pleased to
announce the very first San Diego State Undergraduate Conference in
Philosophy located right here in San Diego. The focus of this year's
conference will be on Philosophy in Contemporary Life.

Possible questions addressed:
What is the purpose of philosophy in contemporary life?
How is philosophy informed by contemporary culture?
How can philosophy affect contemporary life?
What are some philosophical issues present in the contemporary world?

Calvin College
Undergraduate Philosophy Conference

Calvin’s undergraduate philosophy conference is a two-day event held each year to promote excellence in philosophy. In addition to keynote lectures from leading contemporary philosophers, the conference provides students an opportunity to present and receive rigorous
feedback on their own work in the form of formal comments from a peer and Q&A.

This year we are very pleased to have Cornell philosophers Jill North and Ted Sider as our keynote speakers. On Friday the 4th, Dr. North will kick off the conference with “The Structure of a Quantum World.” Dr. Sider will conclude the conference with “Against Parthood.”

• Participants: The conference is free of charge and open to the public.

• Papers: Accepting papers on all topics in philosophy.

• Lodging: Calvin students offering to host visiting students.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• Submission deadline is March 15th. Acceptance notification is April 1st. All papers are subject to blind review.

• Include detachable title paper with name, title, and institution affiliation. The paper itself should include only the paper title. Submit papers as attachments in pdf/word.doc format to Chad McIntosh: cam39@students.calvin.edu

• Papers should be prepared to be read within 30-45 minutes.

Undergraduate Conference

There will be a conference in May at Western Michigan University having to do with bioethics. Those of you that have taken my Ethics, Bioethics, or Philosophy and Public Issues courses should consider submitting a paper. I'd be happy to help you it up before you submit it. Also, I suspect that you could get some funding via our Undergraduate Research Award to attend the conference. Let me know if you're interested in this and I'll help you complete all the forms.

Undergraduate Biomedical Ethics Symposium

Biomedical ethics papers should be 3000 words (about 20 minutes presentation time) and prepared for blind review (name and identifying information should appear nowhere on the paper). Attach your paper and separate cover page that contains name, address, phone number, e-mail address and school affiliation as a Word or PDF file to the e-mail. The e-mail subject line should read “Undergraduate Biomedical ethics Paper Submission”

Submission deadline March 1st, 2012

Accepted authors will be notified by March 15th. Papers not prepared for blind review will be rejected. We respectfully request that we receive submissions only from those who plan to attend the conference if accepted.
